My Aurora 9 is getting a bit old and second hand looking. I was about to upgrade to the Aurora 9 X but it looks pretty much the same other than a faster latency (which has never been an issue for me). Now I'm sitting on the fence unable to chose between a Taranis Q7 for $120 that will work with all my 15 planes (FrSky delta recievers) or $400 for a 9x.
The best thing about buying the 9x is the familiarity, I should just be able to copy my models over (which will take hours.) whereas the Taranis has a less user friendly menu which will probably takes me ages to learn. Is the 9x worth the upgrade? A big part of me wants it but my brain is not convinced. I read the first 10 pages of this thread and the comments didn't seem all that positive. I personaly wouldnt but thats just me. I would wait for the new Hitec flagship or seeing that your thinking of frsky the Horus. I have the A9 and the Horus and like them both alot.
Big Deal New 922-9567 922-9951 For Mac Download
The Horus has a modual bay so I PRESUME u can add a Hitec compatable one in there so u can still use your Hitec receivers. The new Hitec looks very nice aesthetically wise.
All my Tx's look like brand new but Im a bit anal that way. My planes for some reason not so much. I like engines the most. Cheers the pope. Thanks for the reply. The Horus looks very impressive but its too chunky for my needs.
My old Aurora still works fine, it just looks crappy, has a lot of scuffs and scratches from the previous owner (my mate) who used to just let it slide around on the floor of his car when he went for a fly. Also the back light doesn't work anymore, not a big deal but. I might just stick with it, the newer 9X looks really nice but I don't think its going to be worth the money or the hassle for its extra features. Get a Taranis X9D Plus instead, handles very like the Aurora 9. As waiting for the new Hitec flagship. Been waiting for almost 3 years now, and still no sign of anything.
Nothing anounced again so it's not gonna happen this year for sure. As far as I'm consired Hitec as radio system is dead. No gonna invest in it anymore. I like the Taranis, sure the programming is a lot harder to learn, but it does a lot more a Hitec can. And the PC / Mac companion software does a great job of making things easy. I like the X9D plus, used it a few times (friend has one), I just didn't find it as comfortable to hold as the hitec.
Also found the menus rather tedious to navigate. Can't argue about its functions and customability tho, its miles ahead but most of those extra options are not really needed for simple 4 channel plane flyer me Do like the voice warnings, far superior to the hitecs beeping.
Have a look at the new released Horus X10, it's just a little bigger than the Aurora 9. The it comes with is very alike the Aurora as far as programing and menus go. No need at all to use OpenTX with it. Pricetag is just below a new 9X, but it sure has a lot more to offer at this point.
